Amna Al Haddad

Prior to embarking on an athletic journey, Amna worked as a journalist at The National in Abu Dhabi and maintained a health and fitness blog ‘999 Fitness’. In 2011, she decided to become a full-time athlete. Within a year, she made history for becoming the first Arab woman to compete in the Reebok Crossfit Asia Regionals in Seoul. By 2013, Amna gained the title of the first Hijabi Weightlifter from the Gulf. Despite her injuries, she participated in the qualifying games for the Olympics and helped the UAE team earn the points needed to make it through. Amna has been featured on CNN and in Nike’s global campaign, “Better For It” as well as their documentary, “Inner Strength, Raising the Bar”. She holds a BA in Mass Communication and Journalism from American University of Sharjah.
